Your other hand keeps the list

When you have several things to say — three reasons, four names, a first-second-third — ASL puts them somewhere you can point at. Hold up your non-dominant hand and let each finger stand for one item: thumb is the first, index the second, and so on. Your dominant hand touches the finger it is talking about, then signs the item.
