# Sign languages you can learn

signLingo teaches 10 sign languages. Every course states what it leaves out.

- **American Sign Language (ASL)** — United States & Canada. one-handed alphabet. A full beginner course: greetings, pronouns, the whole alphabet, numbers 0–9, and around ninety everyday signs.
- **British Sign Language (BSL)** — United Kingdom. two-handed alphabet. A starter course: the five vowels, a one-handed letter, counting to five, and two SignBank words. The rest of the BSL alphabet is not here rather than guessed at.
- **French Sign Language (LSF)** — France. one-handed alphabet. A starter course: the nine letters that carried unchanged into ASL, plus counting to five.
- **Indian Sign Language (ISL)** — India. two-handed alphabet. A starter course: counting to five, namaste, help and parents, and drink. The ISL alphabet is two-handed and is not covered here.
- **Chinese Sign Language (CSL)** — China. mixed. A focused course on the number system: one to ten, all on one hand.
- **Australian Sign Language (Auslan)** — Australia. two-handed alphabet. A starter course: the five vowels and counting to five, shared with BSL and NZSL.
- **Brazilian Sign Language (Libras)** — Brazil. one-handed alphabet. A starter course: the letters shared with the LSF lineage, plus counting to five.
- **German Sign Language (DGS)** — Germany. one-handed alphabet. A starter course: thumb-first counting to five and five shared letters.
- **Japanese Sign Language (JSL)** — Japan. mixed. A starter course: counting to five and the flat hand many JSL signs build on.
- **Spanish Sign Language (LSE)** — Spain. one-handed alphabet. A starter course: the letters shared with the LSF lineage, plus counting to five.
